Cycling

The daughter and I rode the Ida Valley segment of the Otago Rail Trail on Saturday. We went the 32 kilometres from Oturehua to Omakau (pdf map link) in three hours. It was blisteringly hot (I'd estimate about 30 degrees C, but we were a bit far from any temperature measurements) with no cloud cover, so we were applying sunblock pretty regularly.

that is a nice stretch - I am really sad I haven't made it back since March last year!

I used to go Chatto Creek to Ranfurly with Mr Ward chasing. I still love the Hyde > Ranfurly return trip. That bit from Waipiata to Ranfurly is so constantly uphill and straight and usually with a headwind that it requires all energy. :D

Dammnit - now I will have to see what state the bike is in for a trip next week.
